LUSH Cosmetics, a beloved icon in the vegan and cruelty-free beauty world, is once again proving that activism and ethics can be at the heart of a thriving business. On May 8th, LUSH hosted its Resist Ball at the immersive ARTECHOUSE gallery in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, marking a milestone moment in the brand’s decades-long commitment to driving social change. The evening served as a celebration of LUSH's donation of over $100 million to grassroots organizations that support people, animals, and the planet—a staggering achievement in conscious capitalism.

The event was hosted by actress and New York Times best-selling author Dylan Mulvaney, who brought both warmth and purpose to the stage while dressed in Marchesa. As a long-time advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community and a collaborator with LUSH, Mulvaney helped shine a spotlight on the company’s deep-rooted activism and its forward-looking vision.

One of the evening’s most impactful moments came during the “Soapbox Session: The Fight for Justice Today”, a thought-provoking panel moderated by LUSH’s Advocacy and Activism Manager, Carleen Pickard. The session brought together notable activists including Manuel Oliver (Change The Ref), Damario Solomon-Simmons (Justice for Greenwood), and Danielle Silber (ACLU). The panelists addressed the intersection of human rights, racial justice, and environmental activism—echoing LUSH’s philosophy that all forms of justice are interconnected.

LUSH’s Co-founder Rowena Bird joined Dylan Mulvaney on stage to unveil the future of LUSH’s Charitable Giving initiative, which remains one of the most transparent and purpose-driven programs in the cosmetics industry. Among the exciting launches are three new limited-edition products whose profits go directly toward social and environmental causes:

  • Late Bloomer Bath Bomb: A collaboration with Dylan Mulvaney, where 75% of the purchase price supports organizations helping trans individuals thrive.

  • Flame Fighters Soap ($10.00): Aids communities affected by California wildfires and funds Indigenous land management efforts.

  • Hutan Bath Bomb ($7.00): Supports conservation in Simeulue, Indonesia, protecting endangered species and promoting sustainable forestry.

The night was a moving blend of celebration and call to action, amplified by musical performances from Treya Lam, DJ GRLSKOUT, and the powerful voices of the Resistance Revival Chorus—a collective that centers joy and song in the spirit of protest.

As LUSH continues its 30-year legacy of ethical beauty and impactful activism, its stores remain more than just a place to find fresh, handmade cosmetics—they are hubs of education, compassion, and purpose. With Mother’s Day and other holidays right around the corner, now is the perfect time to support a brand that gives back in every bar, bomb, and bubble.
